“I say I can. I make a plan. I get right to it.
And then I do it!”
The boys attended their first ever live theater production this weekend! I am so excited to share this positive and motivational musical with you. Can Do Duck: The Musical is based on the book The Can Do Duck. The book is brought to life in this interactive musical. We arrived a little early, but there was nothing to worry about since Can Do Duck has your little ones covered. They had two colorful table and chair sets for children to make an adorable craft while you wait.
Lynn Redgrave Theater is conveniently located just steps away from subway transportation. They also have a designated place for strollers which was a life saver for this twin mom (we have a large stroller aka "The Bus").
Once we were let into the theater I was excited to see the carpet seating down in front. The boys loved sitting criss cross applesauce and they could snuggle up next to us easily during the show.
Caleb was called up to help the Dad, who is in character from the moment you walk inside the theater. He was a bit nervous, but so proud that he was able to help. This production is truly lifting your child up from the minute they walk in the door.
I was afraid the boys might get antsy, but that wasn't the case at all! They were engaged for the entire hour. At one point Caleb looked at me with the biggest smile and said "This is fun!" I couldn't agree more. I found myself really getting into the show and even became a bit emotional at end when the mama duck is consoling her little duckling. She told him how proud she was of him for always giving it his best. Something I try to instill in my children everyday.
Noah barely moved from his spot! He was fixated on the bright costumes and adorable songs. He enjoyed watching the ducklings learn to walk, swim, and fly even though it was hard for them at first. He beamed with excitement once the duckling started to walk. He loved seeing them progress from wobbly knees to running feet. I loved how they emphasized that things might not be easy, but if we give our best we CAN DO it!
Not only will this show engaged your child upon arrival they also allow the children to come up on stage after the show so they can practice their walking, swimming, and flying skills.
Caleb loved Mama Duck so much. When ever she was off stage he asked about her, so as a mom, I loved that she took a minute to talk to him! This was above and beyond what I expected and I'm thrilled this was the boys first live production. Thank you so much Can Do Duck: The Musical for inviting us. This was a day we will remember for years to come!
Also don't forget to pick up a memento when you leave. They have stuffed plush ducks, two books "The Can Do Duck" and "Can Do and Friends to the Rescue", and fun bath time ducks. Everything is very reasonably priced, and of course it helps spread Can Do Duck's positive message...
